What Are Blog Tags?

Blog tags are pieces of metadata that help search engines identify and index your blog posts. Tags typically include a keyword, but can also include a phrase that describes your post.

For example, you might use the tag “travel” to categorize all of your posts about traveling.

When you publish a new post, you should include a tag in the “Title” field of the ” Publishing Tools ” page of your blog’s Settings page. You can also add tags when you publish a post by pressing the “Add a Tag” button on the “Publishing Tools” page.

Tags can help readers find your posts by category, which can help you increase traffic to your blog. When you add a tag to a post, it appears as a label next to the post in the blog’s main navigation and in search results.

If you don’t have any tags assigned to a post, WordPress uses the default tag for that post type (“blog”). Tags are case-sensitive, so “travel” and “Travel” are different tags.

You can add or remove tags from posts at any time. To remove a tag from a post, click on the “Remove Tag” link next to that tag in the publishing tools page.

To add a new tag to a post, click on the “Add Tag” link next to that tag in the publishing tools page.
