Are Blog Names Copyrighted?

Copyright law governs the use of intellectual property, including trademarks, in the United States. Generally, copyright protection lasts for the life of the author or 50 years after the death of the last surviving author, whichever comes first.

However, there are a few exceptions to this rule. For example, copyright protection for certain literary works may last for 100 years after the date of publication.

The use of a trademark in a blog name is not typically subject to copyright protection. This is because trademarks are considered generic terms and are not considered to be protectable by copyright law. This means that a company or individual cannot own a trademark that is identical or confusingly similar to a registered trademark owned by another company or individual.

In addition, using a trademark in a blog name does not give you any exclusive rights to use that trademark. You can still use that trademark without infringing on the rights of another company or individual.
