Did Julia Child Really Dislike Julie Powell’s Blog?

Julia Child famously disliked Julie Powell’s book “Julie & Julia” for its depiction of their friendship. However, recent interviews suggest that the two women have since made up. Did Julia Child actually dislike Julie Powell’s blog, or was the animosity between them simply a product of their different writing styles?

Despite their differences, there is no denying that Julia Child and Julie Powell were close friends. In fact, they even co-authored a cookbook together.

However, when Powell published her book “Julie & Julia,” which chronicled her journey from novice cook to master chef, Child was not impressed. In an interview with The New York Times, she said “She’s a good friend and I like her books, but I don’t think hers is a very accurate portrayal of our friendship.”.

Powell has since defended her book, insisting that it is accurate and that she and Child had a great relationship. In an interview with The Guardian, she said “There was always this underlying tension between us because we were such different writers.

She was very terse and precise in her writing and I was more free-flowing.

However, in an interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, Powell revealed that they had made up and were now good friends. She said “We had a lot of tension because she’s a very precise thinker and I’m more free-flowing.But then we just talked about it and we realized that what we write reflects our personalities.” So while it’s clear that Julia Child didn’t appreciate Julie Powell’s book very much, it appears the two women have since put their differences aside.
