How Do You Cite a Blog MLA?

An essay or article that has been published on a website or in a magazine is generally not given the same level of citation as a scholarly article that has been published in a peer-reviewed journal. However, you can still use the MLA style for your essay or article if you follow these guidelines:

1. Use the author’s last name only.

Do not use the first name alone.

2. List the title of the article followed by the publication name, followed by the year of publication. For example, “Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” Speech” would be written as “Martin Luther King Jr.

(1958). I Have A Dream Speech.”.

3. Indicate whether the article is an essay or a short story with a comma after the title, for example: “An Essay on Poverty” or “Short Story: The Drowning.”

4. List the page numbers after the title, for example: “Martin Luther King Jr.

‘s I Have A Dream Speech on Page 2.” If there are several pages with this title, list them numerically after “2.
