Is YouTube a Blog?

YouTube is a video hosting website and application. It was created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005. In November 2006, Google bought YouTube for $1.65 billion.

The site has become the world’s most popular video hosting site, with over 1.5 billion active users as of February 2017.

The site allows users to upload, view, share, and comment on videos. Registered users can add comments to videos, give feedback on other users’ videos, and subscribe to channels.

In February 2017, YouTube announced that it would be shifting its focus from a desktop-focused site to a platform-centric site, with a new app and website that would be tailored to mobile devices and set-top boxes.

YouTube is not considered a blog because it does not allow comments or discussions on individual posts like blogs do. Additionally, YouTube does not offer the same level of interactivity between readers and writers that blogs do.
