When playing Hangman, the hardest word to guess is probably “Faux”. This word has two letter pairs that are both spelled “faux”, but pronounced differently. For example, the first letter of “Faux” is pronounced like the letter “a” in “bat”, but the second letter of “Faux” is pronounced like the letter “e” in “bed”. So, if you guessed the first letter of “Faux”, your opponent would be able to correctly guess the second letter of “Faux”, because they know that it is pronounced like the letter “e” in “bed”.

However, if you guessed the second letter of “Faux”, your opponent would be unable to correctly guess the first letter of “Faux”, because they do not know that it is pronounced like the letter “a” in “bat”.
