What Happened to Weather Underground Blog?

Weather Underground Blog, or “Wunderground” was an online blog that covered weather and climate change. It was one of the most popular and well-known climate change blogs. It was founded in 2006 by Bill Patzert, an atmospheric scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

In 2013, Wunderground was acquired by The Weather Company, a subsidiary of IBM. However, on October 24th, 2014, The Weather Company announced that it was shutting down Wunderground.

The Weather Company cited “a changing industry landscape” as the reason for the shutdown. However, some speculate that the shutdown was simply a cost-saving measure by The Weather Company.

Regardless of the reason, many users are concerned about the future of Wunderground. Some have speculated that the blog could be revived by another organization or company, but there is no indication as to whether or not this will happen.
