What Is the URL of My Blog?

An article about Blogging and URL’s

When you start a blog, you’ll need a URL. A URL is like a web address for your blog.

You’ll give it to people when they want to visit your blog. You can also give it to other people when you want them to share your blog with others.

There are a few things you need to know about creating and using URLs:

1. A URL consists of the prefix “http://” followed by the domain name of the blog, for example, “http://www.sarahsblog.com”.
2. The domain name is the name of your website, for example, “sarahsblog.com”.
3. The suffix is “.com”, “.net”, or “.org”.
4. The first part of the URL (the prefix) is always lowercase, and the second part (the domain name) is always uppercase.
5. To create a URL, type http://www.google.com into your web browser’s address bar and hit Enter.

This will take you to the Google search page for websites. In the search bar at the top of the page, type “blog” and hit Enter. This will show you all of the blogs that Google has indexed (i.e., that are listed in its search results). Click on any of the links in the list of blogs to visit that blog’s website.
6. When you create or edit a post on your blog, you’ll need to include a link to that post’s URL in order for people to easily find it in their web browsers’ address bars. To insert a link in your post, click on the “Insert Link” button located near the bottom of most WordPress posts (you may need to scroll down if there are too many posts in your post-area). In the popup box that appears, type in your post’s URL and hit Enter (or click on “Copy Link”).
7. You can also include links to individual blog posts within other posts by including a “[URL]” placeholder within square brackets after each post’s title (for example: [URL]) . When someone clicks on one of these links, they’ll be taken directly to that post’s website instead of being taken back to your main blog page (unless you’ve set up WordPress so that it automatically reloads all posts when someone clicks on one of these links).
