What Was the First Blogging Platform?

The first blogging platform was actually a website called LiveJournal. It was created in 1999 by Russian programmer Ivan Tikhonov and originally used a proprietary format. In 2002, LiveJournal was acquired by Russian company Oleg Tinkov, who then modified the platform to use a content management system called LJ.net.

In 2003, Tinkov sold LJ.net to American company AmeriCable for an undisclosed sum.
