What Year Did Blogging Become Popular?

Blogging as an online news and publishing medium was first popularized in 2003. At the time, many people were using Blogger to create personal blogs, as opposed to using traditional web publishing platforms like WordPress. Over time, blogging platforms grew more sophisticated, and by 2010, there were millions of blogs running on platforms like WordPress and Blogger. In 2013, Google announced that it would be making Blogger the default platform for new Google+ users.

This led to an increase in the number of people blogging, as well as the number of people searching for blog content online. In 2015, Pew Research Center released a report showing that 74% of Americans use the internet either daily or occasionally to access news and information. This shows that blogging is a popular way for people to get information and share their thoughts with the world.
