What’s a Blog Domain?

What is a Blog Domain?

A blog domain is the unique name of a website that runs blogs.
A blog domain is typically the same as the website’s name (for example, www.blogger.com), but it can also be a different name (for example, www.thesmartlocal.com).

Why Would I Want a Blog Domain?

One reason to own a blog domain is so you can easily create separate websites for each blog you run. For example, you could have a website called “My Blog” and another website called “My Travel Blog.” Having separate domains means you don’t have to use your personal website’s domain name (www.johnsmith.com) when referring to your travel blog or blog about cooking recipes – you can just use your travel blog’s domain name (www.travelingwithjohn.com) or cookbook website’s domain name (www.cookbooksandmore.com).

Owning a blog domain also gives you more control over your website’s content and design, since you can set up your own hosting and admin account and make whatever changes you want to your website’s look and feel without needing the approval of other people (for example, if you’re using a free WordPress platform like WP Engine, you don’t need to get agreement from the WordPress team in order to make changes to your site).
Finally, owning a blog domain can help increase your website’s search engine exposure by making it more difficult for people to find your site if it doesn’t have a well-known domain name like www.google.com or www.yahoo.com.
