How Do I Track a Newsletter in Google Analytics?

Google Analytics provides several functions that allow you to track newsletters as unique events.

The first step is to add a new tracking event for the newsletter in Google Analytics. To do this, click on “Events” in the left-hand navigation panel and select “New Event.” In the “Event Type” field, select “Newsletter.” In the “Event Details” field, provide a brief description of the newsletter event.

Next, specify which pages or segments of pages were accessed during the event. Finally, choose a date range for the event.

Once you’ve added the new tracking event, you can begin to track its performance. To do this, go to “Behavior” in the left-hand navigation panel and select “Tracking Settings.” In the “Behavior Tracking” section, select “Newsletter.” In the “Newsletter Tracking Settings” dialog box, click on the “Events” tab. Under “Event Type,” select “Newsletter.” In the “Events To Track” list, select the newsletter event you just added.

Under “Action,” select one of the following: Open: Indicates whether or not the visitor opened the newsletter article. Close: Indicates whether or not the visitor closed the newsletter article. Click: Indicates whether or not the visitor clicked on an embedded link in a newsletter article. You can also add other actions that you think are relevant to tracking newsletter performance. Finally, set a date range for this tracking setting.

With these basic tracking settings in place, you can begin to see how readers interact with your newsletters and measure their success based on engagement levels and conversion rates.
